And to add something like ZP or Zedd points would need coder input. I don't think it would be hard but we already have enough currency like means on 4d. Not sure we need another set. Right now we have gold / tokens / award points / trade points. But if Molly thinks it might be something to try we might try it in the beta.

Believe me, I don't need coder input to add a currency. But I agree that we have already enough currencies, maybe it's better if we use one of the existent ones.

Interesting feature, I like the fact that it involves all the mud and all the players to protect their mud. I have though some questions about it:

-What do the aliens loaded DO? Move around the mud zones and kill everything?
-What do players have to do, kill all the aliens? Why? What prize are they going to get? What if they don't kill the aliens what happens?
-Do the aliens keep wandering around the mud endlessly until a bunch of players decide to kill them? What's the point in killing them, what are the extremes if the aliens really invade the mud?
-What is this IDD feature all about? I can't really understand what's it all about.

I recommend we start finishing the Alien invasion idea before expanding it into different sagas. We can always do that in future, let's start to see if the players like the IDEA of the invasion and if all the building and scripting work is worth doing. I personally don't like to invest time in things nobody will ever enjoy. If we subtract precious time from our RL's to improve our 4Dimensions world in a way that really helps it.

With that said, let's start organizing the work and the feature details, let's see if players enjoy the idea of this feature and let's get it DONE in a week or two maximum.


I'm glad qsay have been fixed, not that I know this I'm going to make Zedd qsay his spammy shouts, so people not interested in playing the Zedd feature can just turn qsay off and keep idleing at recall in peace.

Thanks for your opinions, what I've extrapolated from your suggestions is:

-Anyone able to load Zedd but with 1hour delay timer between loads. (We solve the abuse problem, right Kvetch?)
-I'll figure out a way to avoid SYSerrors when the random room doesn't exist.
-Zedd runs multiple dimensions, is better to have him run all the dimensions at once? Or letting the player chose which dimension they want to play the game in?
-ZP's points shops (Maybe we can use Tradepoints better?) I think it's confusing for new players to have TOO many different currencies. Features like this could use the standard Tradepoints currency.
-Zedd gives no more Gold when you find him, but Tradepoints?
-When Zedd gets loaded in HARD mode, will also send the players on scavenger hunts for a nice TP's reward.
-No Zedd games played in Builder Zones.
-No NEWBIE Zedd, just EASY and HARD mode.
-fixed TAG game lenght, 20tags.

Hard Mode Zedd will be: 1-Can't track him, 2-Loads in multiple dimensions, 3-Sends you on scavenger missions randomly,
New idea: 4- You need to fight him until 20%HP before you can advance to the next tagging?

Gah, the witch (Molly) posted before I could finish my post, so she ended up before me. I'm not making another post, I'm modifying this and adding down here the reply (lazy ass of me).

-New mob concept idea
-It won't travel from dimension to dimension (like old Professor Botta)
-Player will chose which dimension? Or it'll be random at load?

Maybe it's better to start with 5 zones in each dimension? Then gradually expand as builders get time to spend on this task.
What is this Invasions about?

The Golems can't be finished because in the past I had more time, now it's limited. So I have to manage it very carefully and I can't work on a very complex script that I can't fully test in 6002, wait for you to upload it in 6000, then if a major bug or problem is spotted, wait again hours or days for you to upload the fix and then check again if it's working correctly, then lose players interest in beta-testing because it took too long to fix the problem that causes them to lose the golems etc., etc., etc.

I'm slowly building my small zone, when I'll have access to edit the Golem scripts in a snap, be sure the feature will be finished in a snap too.

Having the new Zedd fixed from teleporting into unreachable rooms and after playing a bit I'm starting to get addicted to the feature.
Is a nice idea and I'd like to expand it, I have some suggestions.

-Zedd loadable by everyone, load cost 10millions. (Actually only loadable by Imms or Heroes)
-Players can chose which Dimension they want to play Zedd in. Maybe even ZONE-wise? Players can chose which zone to play Zedd into and compete for the best Zone Expert?
-Rankings, a table will show the top10 players that have found Zedd the most, rankings being based on every dimension too.
-Play EASY Zedd (You can track him) or HARD Zedd (You can't track the mob) or NEWBIE Zedd (It only plays in Mudschool area) [cost for newbie Zedd just 1mil]
-HARD Zedd would give triple exp than EASY Zedd.
-Players can choose the length of the game, from 10times to 50times - before the game ends.
-Command could be: LOADZEDD <difficulty> <dimension> <length>

Any other suggestion?

I found a new efficient way to share scripts. No more attachments, no more long forum posts, no more hassle. Can just copy/paste a script and share a small link.
I configured our 4D domain on pastebin.com - to access it just go to: http://4d.pastebin.com
If you look left-up you have a button called Arhive, you can view there all the scripts that have been posted.
Having the scripts on our domain, makes them not viewable by all the pastebin.com users, isn't that wonderful?

Would you please stop speaking about forced PK as it is a feature that WILL definitely be in the new code?
It's a suggestion, remains a suggestion. The only reason it's been suggested is because if the code changes and you can't be looted nor die in a PK fight.
Not being PK means only you'll never have points to buy gear from the PK shop. The harassment is reduced to 1 fight per hour and no death.
Getting disturbed for a few seconds by a passing player is really such a nightmare during your exploring?

I wish I could go edit my first post and remove this damn PK thing :-P

I will never support any system that forces players to go PK.

You can be attacked just once every hour, and you don't really die, your HP just stops at 10HP and you'll still be in the very same room you've been attacked.
All your discomfort would be that you have to heal yourself up.

Anyway it was just a suggestion, doesn't have to be absolutely like that. We're just discussing here, try to be constructive explaining why you wouldn't support a system like that instead of throwing a stubborn opinion.

I need to know what all these CLASSES do when assigned to a mob:
Enter choice : v
 0) Normal
 1) Undead
 2) Caster
 3) Fighter
 4) Rogue
 5) Animal

Each class what does it make the mob do exactly?
All I know is that Fighter, Rogue, Caster make the mob use skills or spells. Ok, but exactly what SKILLS and SPELLS? Does the mob use them always? Depends on TIER? Please explain it up or paste the class code so I can understand.

I vote for poison being removed and this thread moved to the forum,
I hate having to press enter to read the board, someone clean it up Smiley
 
Poison was too much hassle in the first place, poison 3 and 4 items
are timered and a pain in the ass to go get everytime.
 
Poison 1 and 2 are not really fight-friendly, takes time a lot of time
for the opponent player or mob to feel the handicap, unless the fight is very long
they're useless. Mostly is just harassing PKers that after killing you
have to cure the poison quickly so their mv/mana don't get affected too much
by your evil poisoned dagger, and curse you over the open channels all day
long, and you can't really argue about that since they're actually right.
One stupid fight with you and now they're forced to spend an hour sleeping
in the 4D Inn to regain their stats. Would that lead somehow players to enjoy
more the PK feature? I exponentially disagree.
 
I'd also change the way PK works, no more possibility of corpse looting
so anybody could go enjoy fighting without the sensation that they are
at RISK.
 
Would be nice if Anubis could re-concept PK.
 
Suggestions would be:
 
-No PK death, the defeated opponent remains in the room he's been defeated into with 10HP,
a message appears like a kind of brag that isn't a brag ex.: [Lionheart] has been defeated in combat by [Emma]
-Once a player has died in PK combat, he can't be PKed again for 30min, to avoid harassment. But he can go PK back the player that PKed him initially or someone else.
-Make PK points system WORK, so I can finally build a shop where you can buy items and gear usgin PK points.
 
-Both players must be level 100 to earn/lose PK points
-All players that reach level 100 are forced by the code into PK
-Players below level 100 can still register for the flag if they want
to fiddle in the PK world sooner but they won't earn PK points in fights.
-PK points retribution (Loser: -1p - Winner: +3p) to encourage players.
-PK shops item minimum cost = 20 PK-points. You actually have to PK a bit
to be able to buy even the worst item available.

I believe that if we want people to interact more with eachother and enjoy
all the aspects of the game even the PK feature, we have to reconcept it.

I understand that builders would prefer players that go out questing more and exploring the content they have so hardly created and don't appreciate much the aspect of PK.
But if you really think about it; why do people go quest? Everybody you'll ask would nobly say "to enjoy the awesome content 4D has to offer", but the truth is that 90% of the good questers do it for the gear. Most of the best geared players are PK, know why? So they can prove their strength and aim at the honor of saying: I'm the strongest player around. There are some players who quest for just the fun of it, they care not about gear or prizes and got nothing to prove - but this kind of players are rare, and they usually end up achieving small or quitting.

What I've realized is that PK is linked to zone exploration and questing. If we actually make players ENJOY PKing, we also motivate them to leave recall and quest so they can stand a better chance when you meet another player in the open.

For the game to be fun and challenging and revive people's interest great content and quests must be valued as much as PK challenging code and features.
These two aspects should be concatenated, once can't live without the other and vice-versa.
