IMMORTALS MORTALS PC NPC MOBILES MOBS
Mortals is another name for the players in a mud. They are also called PCs
(personal chars), as opposed to the NPCs (non personal chars) that are also
known as mobiles, mobs or monsters. Those are what you usually kill in the
mud, although it sometimes pays better to talk to them.
In some Muds, when you hit top level, you become an immortal. Not so here. The
Imms on 4 Dimensions are chosen for their work and special qualities and just
being a 'good' player is no guarantee that you'll be a good Imm.
Unlike the mortals, the Imms on 4D spend the major part of their time online
not playing, but working on the mud. The Imms code, they build the areas you
play in, they supervise the game, they run quests and they help players in
trouble. Each and every imm on this mud has put lots of hours of hard work
into the game. For this they deserve the respect of the players. Without the
Staff there would be no mud for you to play.
We don't want any power tripping imms here, we don't request that you grovel
in the dirt before us. We also welcome suggestions and input from the players,
as long as you present in a sensible and polite way. But don't slander the
Admin on open channels, or you'll find yourself frozen before you know it.
