Elementals
« on: March 03, 2008, 06:09:21 am »
I dug through the code to make it so players only got 1 elemental instead of 2 when casting the elemental spells. Seems any character with 60 charisma or higher summons 2 elementals instead of 1. Do most people feel this should be removed and they should only summon 1 no matter what, leave it how it is? Raise the amount of charisma needed to summon 2?

Perhaps the tiers of the elementals need to be looked at as well?

Summoning 2 air / 2 water elementals shouldn't be a problem, but summoning 2 earth / fire elementals as it is now is rather overkill.

Is there something wrong with the elementals, or is it just how I cast them?

This is what I get when I summon an air elemental (T1 spell), and a water elemental (T2 spell) when typing group.

                     [ 2150H    10M  5000V 0T ( 0.0%)I] [30 ---] the water elemental
                     [ 5658H    10M  5000V 4T ( 0.0%)I] [35 ---] the air elemental
                     [  191H    10M  5000V 0T ( 0.0%)I] [ 1 ---] Erwin (my clone)

The water elemental seems to be of a lower tier, has lesser HP, and of a lower level than the air elemental, even though it's a T2 spell.

Aren't they different classes though? Also hp isn't all that determines a mobs strength, hitroll, damroll, speed etc.

Yeah, but Tier does.

Or rather, a water elemental can be killed in one-two hits, but an air elemental takes roughly more to die.

I'm wondering why a T2 spell is weaker than a T1 spell, perhaps the tiers should be swapped?

What you're missing though Erwin is those spells are not from the same class. A tier 1 mage spell that is in a area of magic that mages excel at may very well be stronger than a tier 2 spell of another class in the same field of magic.

A suggestion: Maybe like clones, if the elemental's owner logs out, might it be possible for the elementals to go poof as well?

What?  You don't want the SPCA to come and grab them along with all those abandoned pets?  How else will we get it to rain cats and dogs?

I agree with Kvetch the SPCA should clean rogue elementals as well :)
