From April 20th onwards TMC will be offering free banner ads throughout the website on a rotation basis.
More info in this thread:

Immediate question that arises; Do we have a banner that we can use?
If not, could someone perhaps design one for us?
Sounds like a too good opportunity to pass.
-
Any ideas what you would like on a banner?
-
Well, I created one, but can't seem to get it posted here. :(
-
Can you make a screenshot?
-
The link you provided worked.. why you remove it?

If someone wants to make a banner using the logo, you can find the logo here:
http://4dimensions.org/images/splash/deco_logo.gif
You can make a banner easily using something such as GIMP http://www.gimp.org or Photoshop's Free trial http://www.adobe.com
Here's a thread from a large scale ad network that serves banner ads on how to make an effective banner ad:

Unfortunately I'm out of time but if you google "game web banner" and click Images to go to Google Images you'll see a ton of great examples.
Good luck and feel free to hit me up in the game or on here if you need any further advice.

Sorry, I'd removed the link because I was trying to get it to load the picture, not just a link. Try that.

If u provide the background i will more than happy make a banner withiut the watermarks
-
Here's a really quick one just using the logo. I can do more interesting ones later if anyone is interested.
-
I'm interested.

A quick design note for you guys:
Banners should be at least 720px in width and should not exceed 90px in height ( some exceptions may be made ).
Banners should be high quality and we will be taking note of color schemes used in the banner art that complement the TMC color palette.
These banners will link to the mud's homepage, so those homepages should be reachable and in working order ( eg not a placeholder or bare website ).
The key parts are we need our banners to be 720px wide and 90px high in order to fit into Mudconnect. The darker theme looks like it'll work off the bat on the color scheme. I also think we need to submit banners that don't have watermarks otherwise we're watering down our brand.
-
Here's the same thing at 720x90. I'm not in a state of sobriety to do more but maybe tomorrow.
-
Can you guys upload PSDs (if you have them) when you guys submit a banner that way other people can take your work and try to run with it by using GIMP or Photoshop.
-
PSD?
Oh, I have GIMP but rally don't know how to use it. How would I tell it I want the specified size? I have more ideas, but cank( use bannermaker to make them anyway.
-
thoughts on this one?
-
So far I like the clock banner the best.
-
Looks good. We should just run with that and if someone makes a new one we can swap it out later.
-
I like the clock one too. :)
-
I'm in love with this clock on. Totally conceptualizes 4D
-
Possibly increase the width of the 4dimensions more. To the edges of the black.
-
wider logo
-
Okay, who submits this stuff. I think it's good to go. If I don't hear back from Molly in 48ish hours I'll just try to set it up myself.
-
Sorry for not responding, I've been visiting relatives and been off the internet for the last few days.
I like the clock banner too. And I'd be grateful if Once would submit it, since I'd most likely botch things up completely, if I tried doing it myself.
Just pretend that you haven't heard from me for another 48 hours. :)
-
I like Jaros's clock banner. It fits in with 4d time themes :) Rock on Jaros!
Prom
-
I completely agree with Prom as stated early. The banner rocks. Ill add it to the 4d f ebook page actually. In fact it should really go on the website imho. Get rid of our old banners which are a bit dated and i erly simple.
-
I'll look and see if I can figure out how to add or change the banner on here. If I can't figure it out I'll drop a note to Mord and Di and see if either of them can tell me how.
-
It should pretty straight forward in Drupal. Check inside the theme section
-
Looks like whoever has access to the 4d TMC account is the person that needs to upload this.
-
I think I actually finally managed to upload it.
After some help from Icculus, who's really been a dear through this entire process.
I can't believe the guy actually chose to drop all the income from commercials like Achaea, (who at one point claimed they owned the TMC), in favour of promoting free muds for no profit whatsoever.
He even excluded the commercials from the list of muds connected to the New Muds page.
Talk about making an effort for the Text mud community!
He told me that "it's good to be back from the dark side!"
I am totally impressed. :)
And thanks to everyone for contributing!
-
The logo now shows on the 4d's website too. Thanks for the work everyone.
-
I actually don't think it looks great on the site as it is. If someone knows the exact dimensions of the site header I can adjust it.
-
This was the one that was on there originally: http://4dimensions.org/images/splash/deco_logo.gif (http://4dimensions.org/images/splash/deco_logo.gif)
Maybe you can compare the height with that one and adjust it for the new logo?
Cause when adding it to the website, there's no parameters to allow me to change the height/width of the banner.
-
Looks like it's 100px high by 270px wide.
-
Try this. it should look a bit more balanced.
-
This is 1000x100, a bit larger than 100 by 270 but I'll give it a quick try.
-
Yeah the website header is definitely wider than 270, that's just the width of the logo. It's more like 1000, so that should sit the 4Dimensions nicely above Forum | Play now, etc.
-
That's not quite how it works, Drupal has a space for logo within the theme. Any changing of the size of that will require a fair bit of CSSing/etc. I personally don't do a lot of CSS, so it's better if we use something that fits with the theme. I'll check out the actual size that's used in the css in just a few for you.
-
Looks like it's 720 by 90
