Aww.... they can make a second character to talk.  :P

The reason I like this idea is because in real life (yeah, I know, this ain't real life) if you don't use a skill constantly, you're going to be worse at it than someone that does.  As you use skills less, you tend to forget certain little things about the skill that made you better at it than someone else.  Just so this "forgetting" process is only during online time and not offline time, I have no problem with it.

Iwku, You must realize that Mord's ideas either go in immediately (sometimes without notice - or at least my notice... *coughs innocently*) or they take... a while... long while.  I have learned that coder immediately seems to be greater than or equal to one or two years. ;)  (And that's if they remember).  Though, I can't complain, I make areas at about the same speed.

Why even have a number at all?  Just have it say Align:Good/Neutral/Evil instead of giving numbers. 

On a side note, I always thought the help files on it was fine.  I mean, how hard is it to translate this:

"Alignment can range from 1000 to -1000, 1000 being very good and -1000 evil.
An alignment between 350 en -350 is considered neutral."

That says exactly what you explained to them - That is in help alignment.

It seems to me that those things that are not segments should be grouped instead of segmented.  Can you group mobs and would it have this effect?  I don't know, but that's what I'd try to do if I ever wanted something like that.

So why don't people group any more? That's the question I think we should ask ourself, and also what could be done to encourage grouping in different ways.

I think the answer to that is this:  If xp is based off damage done to target and you have the skills to tank AND heal yourself, why group with people?  If you group that means only that you'll level slower.  why was the way xp was given changed?  i believe that had to do with the powerleveling of people.  So, it means we've got to change how xp is given - not have it based off how much damage you do - and somehow make it so there still isn't powerleveling.   I'm not sure if it's been changed or not.  If it has, it just probably means that people are so used to soloing now they have to get out of the habit.

I've always used segemented mobs to be parts of the whole - it gives the mob more attacks.  For example, an eight legged spider should not get only one attack - which is why the spider in NDR 2 is segmented (multiple legs for multiple fun).  Though I'm glad to have read about that "bug" becuase now I know a fix I need to make on other segmented mobs I've done and ones I plan on in the future.

I seem to remember Thotts saying (a while back) that he'd love to have "tell, but it would be too hard to do, due to the memory (or some such) it would take to keep the last x number of tells for each person.  And, Xeri, there is a "newbie - I know, I use it all the time.

Shoot, I tried to do a "What should Kvetchy wear" quest over the quest channel a while back, but it seemed that most people didn't realize/didn't know what I was doing (and these were the people that had the quest channel on).  Of course, may've helped if I'd said something over gossip.  Hmmmm...  Though, I did get some nice outfits.  Too bad they're out of style now.  May have to run this again sometime.

Reminds me of a roleplaying session I ran once where there was a character that always disected every monster they killed - on the off chance that they'd swallowed coins/gems or what not.
