Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Things that need a fixing
« on: June 15, 2009, 10:31:05 pm »
Hey can we also make an on/off function to prevent/allow players to GIVE us items? This would prevent item abuse when players load other players with a ton of crap items to slow them down. Accepting items should be voluntary, not the opposite.

Oh- another thing. Could we see about actually fixing mounts so that we don't have to house a mount in order for it to follow our orders? Seems kind of silly to have to do that.

I just can't see how they would get buff. I can kill my mount is seconds, in fact two kicks from me would end its life. In fact, when we get lucky enough to randomly load a T1. or a T2- they're still weak. I've gotten a T3 I think TWICE the entire time of owning a mount, and it did last the longest outta all my mounts, and really great for stamina wise. So I'm not sure I can understand how they'd BE buff considering I've experienced a T3 mount.

Any chance the IMM staff could actually give us some numbers? One thing the staff should remember is that the MOBs are powerful, and us uber players need to fight them. Our mounts were not designed for the uber mob lvl increase that was implemented so many years ago when we first got dinos and BP and so on. The Mounts need to be able to keep up with them.

You're very uch correct Kvetch- There IS no price guy for mount tiers. Hence why we should discuss the implementation of buying tiers.

Fiachra suggested I do this- so I am.

here is the issue at hand (confirmed): Trample has a horrible land rate. I've an almost maxed skill and landed once out of 17 times. the lag is ginormous (big). I think it may need some slight tweaking due to it's horrible land rate.

second: As players grow stronger, their mounts stay behind- However players NEED to go to higher level areas in order to grind, meanwhile their mounts just get destroyed by aggies left and right. What I would suggest is the ability to buy set tiers to ones mount. The reason being is that it is the only way to give THEM a "fighting" chance to survive vs. large aggy mobs before we can save them, and heal. They dont assist, so there would be no abuse. Their only function is for us to ride, save stamina/mv loss, and get slight dmg bonuses from them. They hard ever come into PK fights, and we can't order our mounts around- so aside from griding/exploring, they are useless. I would propose a 2 silver/tier for perzed mounts. It gives them the stamina, and mv increase that could come in VERY handy when going into mazes and such- In the long run this only benefits us in small areas, but they are helpful nethertheless.

Oh Tor, I'm totally down with being able to buy "languages" so we can also chitter or whatever in others languages. I demand to not be caught in the dark and force players to just use tell and whisper because I can understand their Rsay!

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Alternative to Timers
« on: May 25, 2009, 02:53:34 am »
Here is a simple way to fix hoarding, and what not on artis.

1) Make the maxload like any normal item
2) Script the item to bind to a player, and allowing the player to only own ONE of said item.
3) Remove the timer
4) Script the item to prevent any MOBS, clones, and/or mounts from picking up corpse holding arti and/or looting the corpse.
5) Add !melt on drop(my fav) !cursed, and other such flags to prevent players from handing them off, and/or trying to drop them. Also include a !bound flag to prevent players from slipping, and/or handing the arti off to another.

There. Now every player can officially own ONE of every arti. This means we all have equal share, and we can't work our way around the code to gain any more. Once a player picks it up, it binds, and cannot be given to another player, dropped, and so on.
Items should not cost an upkeep. Just give everyone the ability to own one of everything, and leave it at that. The artis load rarely anyhow, why should a player be punished by having to pay to play with it? Just silliness.
We all have a right to own whatever we find indeffinately. I've given you the answer to prevent people form hoarding, while allowing players equal opportunity to take a piece of the neato stuff hidden in 4D

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: relearning skills/spells
« on: May 25, 2009, 02:41:52 am »
Yeah, there just isn't enough practice sessions to go around anyhow. Especially for GM's who everytime we've remorted, have had to relearn stuff in the SAME class we just remorted back into (because its boring bein lvl 50 all of the time), and have forgotten everything. I have been out of sessions every since, and I'm not about to pay tokens to earn more sessions....and I've lost a lot of skills that used to be 97%.

My point is is that NO EQ should be deserving of stats that have broken the standards. Period. I would encourage zones to create eq SETS, but when it come down to it NOTHING is deserving of ignoring the standards. When you ignore the standards you create an imbalance.

Let's put it this way. We have millions of pieces of eq that are sadly wasted because most everything has negative stats that are pointless, and nobody touches them. We have a bunch of eq in common quests that everyone has. Not a single one of us truly looks unique. On top of that, we are aflood with !class, and !race flags which is ludicrous. Why? Because there are no other pieces out tehre to MATCH those pieces of eq earned from quests. Thus an imbalance is in play until someone bothers to make something to balance out the system

As for the gojira thing, I am skeptical to believe it because the most powerful players who have soloed it, who have completed all of the quests there were to complete, took longer than an hour AND incurred a death or two when doing so. Gojira is hard. Unless you have brace, Gojira hurts a lot. Period. Espcially when Gojie manages to combo the fireball and backstab, or just fireball you twice in a row. Trap aware is great for retreating, if she's managed to snare you, but trap away can also fail, I know form experience considering I've killed gojira three times, being one of the few to actually solo the monster without a healer standing by, abusing the group heal bug, and so on.

But this post isn't about Gojira, or VE.

This is about an imbalance of eq stats. Races are being completely neglected, as are classes. Exceptions to the rules should never be made unless there is a special EVENT that goes on. And we have those pieces of EQ already, with timers. Artis have timers. Quest equipment needs to follow the standards provided.

When zones by Kvetch, and otehrs are completely ignored because people have been given BETTER choices due to these exceptions, we as the mud have failed HER, and other builders who have put a great deal of time creating for us.

I feel that the amount of eq rewards from quests should be lessened so as to provide players with a greater opportunity to actually find other pieces of eq around the 4d galaxy without being stuck to a single given piece because it is the best in the game. It is unfair to the building staff who do not see their pieces used.

On that note, I would even find it reasonable to create actual level requirements rather than !race, !class, and !align flags. The reason being is that instead of having someone such as myself pile through levels like nobodies business because I'm all souped up at lvl 1, I jump 30 levels in 5min...instead, we have to actually wear eq appropriate for our level range. We have the complete capability to do it as far as I know, it's in our builder screen when we make items...so it must be supported. Many of you may not agree with me, but it is what I feel is neccessary in order to force the pbase into actually going about and visiting zones taht they would otherwise not touch because it is below their power status.

As for the DT flags, I agree with Estidn to a point. Dt flags are a great idea but they do make perzes somewhat obsolete because...DTs are the reason why we get perzes, to protect One timer eq from vanishing forever. In the end I beliebe that One timers should not exist, and taht we should have a less expensive perzing system to allow for players to just have their eq prettied up. The players have that right to look unique. This is not about char descs, because many dont even bother...you don't see the descs anyhow when you look at someone, ya gotta finger them instead..(..heh) Players should be able to customize their persons, and it would bring a great deal of extra flare to the mud.

We're behind the times when it really comes down to it. All I am trying to do is get the idea cogs turning, and a move for progression. 4D needs to do more for the players as a WHOLE, not for the select few.

We have an imbalance, and have had it for as long as I can remember. It is timer to move towards fixing that imbalance rather than cause players to play more of one thing rather than what they want to because nothing in available to them.

I have been thinking about this for a long time, and the reason being is that it has become rather standard practice to builders to try and make "the best in the game" eq which I really do not agree with.
When it comes down to it, we do not have set standards that say "items can only be this powerful or less". So my suggestion is, and I would be happy to help, is to create an actual 4D database of items, with their list of stats and so on, and create the standards.
My biggest complaint is that there are certain items that are actually BETTER than gear from Gojira which in mine and several others opinions, should not exist. The reason being that Gojira is undoubtedly (and the leviathon) the TOUGHEST mob in the game. The rewards for Gojira should be worth the time and effort you must dedicate in order to accomplish such a feat.
I should make a point to say that this is not for me to just simply pat myself on the back. This is about trying to push for EQ stat standardization so as to prevent further production of eq that is built to outdo another. Even in my own zone, no such eq exists. They are all similar stats so as to provide the player with the ABILITY to wear either one or the other, without either pieces being better than the next.
If we do not have a standard by which builders must follow, then we will continue to have a constant power imbalance. As it remains, we have a very large eq imbalance because of their not being enough (or any) particular slot pieces available as they are continually ignored. We need to learn how to create a balanced eq system that provides ALL characters of ALL alignments, classes, and races with an equal opportunity to climb the strength ranks.

Some further suggestions would be to abolish the !race flags, and !class flags. That would be a perfect step into the right direction. As for !alignment, I think it is semi-fine...but we all know my stance on our fluctuating alignment system (I hate it).

Anywho, thats all for now.

Actually, when it comes down to it its utterly pointless because lets face it. If a gringo speaks their languauge...they're speaking english :P Just about every race speaks eachothers language by now because we have such few races, socialize in the same spots, interact with each other over a priod of hudreds of years...personally it just doesn't work at all RP wise.

Plus, if you were to implement an actual language system then I would demand that people could then BUY the language skill with practice sessions. The reason being is that all languages should be learnable. I've never quiet agreed with the rsay because of this matter...we already have whisper, so use it :P

Just my two cents..

Ha! This is exactly why the race system is broken :) Gringoes are just anglo-saxon peoples who are CALLED gringoes by the mexicans!

Elvish is easy, it sounds rather musical, and a bit breathy (like the wind is talking, no kidding..that is how I always describe elvish)
Dwarvish is VERY rough, tough, and grumpy. Lots of rolling r's just about everywhere.
Gringo would just speak english, lol, poor gringoes. You COULD have them speak french, or something akin to latin. That itsn't a bad idea.
Martian, like kito said, clicks, and pops, chirping and so on. Not a bad idea at all. You could come up with some interesting syntax for them.
Centuarian like I said earlier, something akin to german in sound and nature.
Space Wolf, to be honest they wouldn't truly have a whole lot to convey like we would because canines dont have the same makeup as we do when it comes to forming words or sounds. I could never figure out how the heck a Space Wolf could speak english...make a space communicator like in Start Trek? Anywho, lots of barking, nipping, yips, and howls. It's not too creative, but based upon their biology, ot's just about all I can think of from a professional point of view.
Fauns would probably poor something akin to greek since that is their origin anyhow.
Indians, as far as I know Sign Language was written by Spainards in the 17th Century actually. I don't know of Indians having an actual sign language system that provides them with a system to fully communicate. No, I would just give them something a little truer to their actual spoken language. I hate to say it, bt I'm never big on giving races more credit than their due, and Indians were certainly not a very mysterious people, nor very advanced.

why not actually write a language code? it's stupid easy to do in fact. I know I spoke with Morde on this subject two years back and he said not only could it be done, but he really liked the idea. I'd be happy to create variations to display a unique linguistic representation for each race in fact.

Cent's wouldn't neigh btw- they are humanoids and thus do not support the correct vocal tracts to create the neigh, nor the lung compacity. They're language would be more akin to something that could either harsh german, or maybe even arabic/hebrew in the way they would compose sounds. By this I mean sounds that pull a lot from their throat, aveolar, and so on. Just a suggestion..
