And animals/reptiles/etc should never, ever give gold because they have no pockets to keep it in.

So, using easy numbers:

If a tier 0 mob gave you 100 gold (sha right, we don't have gold that low, I don't think), a tier 1 mob would give you 150 gold, tier 2 gives  you 200, tier 3 250 and tier 4 300.  Is that what I'm seeing?

Can  you explain that in english, thotts?  I wanted to put in numbers to get an idea of if it was too steep or whatnot, but couldn't figure out your equation.

I think I'd rather be a beginner than. Whilst, to an extent, proverb can be quite true, it's also sadly negative.

I'd rather like to think I have a bunch of possibilities just waiting at my doorstep.

I like being naive I think..

I'm about as far on the other end as you can be. I trust almost no one (you can't truly get hurt by someone you don't trust and expected to fail you anyway), expect little out of life (getting more is then a pleasant surprise, and you can never be disappointed).

Ok, I know this is getting well off the topic, but I just had to reply.  I agree more with Nat than Fizzy, but I understand Fizzy's mindset.  If  you don't expect much, anything you get is a good surprise.  But, on that note, if you expect to fail then it can easily become a self-fulfilling prophecy.  I mean.. why work for something that's destined to fail anyway (example: why work on a marriage since it's destined to fail - over 50% do...and let's not get into how many relationships fail to turn into a marriage).

I'd rather have "naitivity" that something will possibly work out than the "knowledge" that it won't.

I feel the need to agree and disagree with everyone/anyone oh... and Virisin.  ;)

We stress the fact that we're a quest heavy mud, and I see this as another "quest" type thing (find the guildmaster you need to teach you the skill you want).  I also like being newbie friendly.  My thought would be to have all skills up to (what level was said by Diandra?) 30? in the mudschool area, but only available to those that are seekers (which would require a fix of anyone being able to become a seeker).  Those would be the true newbies.  Personally, I'd like to see the mudschool/newbie area closed off to anyone that's remorted - but that's me.  yeah, that'd mean you wouldn't be able to go back to get those flags if you didn't get them the first time through.

Having said that, I will admit that I'm not a quest heavy doer and having to track down a particular mob to get a particular skill would probably drive me nuts - unless there was a hint on where to find the mob (something more specific than "King Arthur in Medieval" ("King Arthur in Camelot" would work).

My disagreement with Virisin is how do you decide what is "necessary" and what isn't?  Scan <direction> if  you have it, is a very necessary skill on this mud when you're DT hunting.

Read, Respond, Tear apart at will.  (poor will, he never did anything to us)

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Trample

*peers around looking for a Cati - nope, not one here*

Seeing as I'm not online, I can't just look up the help file on this to help me answer how long the delay should be.  The response would be dependant on how trample is actually viewed (ie: what the help file says about it).

If you consider trample more of a charge/trample then it would take time to charge/trample/run over victim, but as you can continue fighting in melee when you trample, I'm assuming it's not being used this way.

That gives us a horse kick (which would be different than kick I guess as centaurs don't always have kick), which if you were in melle, you should be able to fight with your weapon and kick out with your hooves during the same round.

But, if you're thinking of the rearing kick, then there should be a delay - as you (or your mount) would have to turn around to kick, and I would think that you really wouldn't be able to use your weapon during that round.

so, my 2 cents.  tear apart at will.

Just because the idea is from another mud doesn't make it bad.  The thought sounds neat, but I wonder how much coding would go in to making it.  So.. how much change would we be talking?  It's like the remort system - too much change means it won't get done no matter how cool it sounds.

And when players test a zone and they find animals dropping gold.. that should be on the list of errors.  I found on my last zone mobs were dropping gold that shouldn't have been.  Actually, I still don't know why they were and I'm hoping they aren't still as I went in and manually put the gold to 0 (oh, and fixed the exotic and animal thing while I was in there).  I just mention this because none of my playtesters said anything, I just happened to be watching one and caught it.  *mwahahaha*

Speaking of.. I do think that if you ever find animals in any of the zone dropping gold, it should be considered a "typo" and reported.  Still don't know how those furry critters carry that much gold unless it's in their bellies and some of them shouldn't be able to move because of how much gold they drop.

No, the mob in question actually has a walk-in message like the other mobs in the zone (since I don't like the defaults) so, the room the mob walks into gets a completely different message - the surrouding rooms get a different message and the room he just walks out of gets a third message.  *whew*

I did initally do it with %asound%, but was bugged by the fact that the room the mob walked out of got the same message as if the mob was approaching them instead of walking away from them.  It's that drive for perfection itch that I have.

So.. room troglodyte left gets this: The strong, oily musk wafts out of the room with the trogloydyte.

And the rooms surrounding the room the trog walked into gets this: A thick, suffocating musk wafts into the room from the south, the oily stench almost graspable in its richness.

The room the trog walks into gets: The stench of the swamp becomes unbearable as a humanoid lizard figure steps from the mist. (which is from a different script than what's posted here - I checked - but the other two rooms noted above are from the same script.)

What's your favorite area and why?  Do the mobs give out enormous xp?  Is the gold to die for (or at least if it was real gold you were carrying you'd have a heart attack and die from it)?  Is there a particular item that's just so good?  Are the quests just so damn awesome you can't live without doing them over and over?

I'd like to make an area that people would want to go to, but I need to find out what people are looking for in an area that makes it special to you.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I see something.. You said Kvetch used it.  That's it.  No other reason.  Scripts just won't work right for her at times.  I swear Mord coded that in so I had to keep bugging for help - though why he'd do that when it was him I was bugging, I've no clue.  But that's it.  There you have it.
