Rynald recently looked it up:

The trigger size limit is 24576 bytes (or characters).

There's plenty ways to recover health/mana/movepoints:

- normal potions - available in every clanhall and elsewhere in the Realms: if you can only buy a limited amount, buy them, put them in a bag, drop the bag in the room and repeat the process, till you have enough potions (make sure you can still lift the bag afterwards)
- sleep in the inns that have a positive effect on your health/mana/move points (locations: see one west of recall)
- trading potions from pre that actually full your health/mana/move in one quaff
- the healers in the clan halls and the cardinal in Old Yorke
- etc

Yes it takes time and money and tradepoints to get there or buy the stuff but isn't that the point of the 'economy system' to get rid of tradepoints and money by making those potions/healers available.

Correction: By my knowledge it has never been a rule that perzes had an owner-only script. Unless that was a recent change/addition (last two/three years).

If you want such as script, you'll need to ask. Of course with the risk the perz disappears if someone else picks it up by accident, like melting with the wrong corpse.

Crafting Main Board / Re: Player Response to Crafting FAQ?
« on: February 03, 2015, 12:46:45 pm »
The only mud I ever came accross with that had its own crafting system had it set up so, that the items made, deteriorated over time. So you either had to go to a repair-NPC to have them repaired or if the item finally broke or vanished, go find the items needed to create a new piece of equipment.  No idea if this is something to consider or if it was already mentioned, not gonna reread the whole FAQ-post again. Or if it's something worth for a player to actually learn but then you go back to the whole trust-issue, but that's beside the point now.

If my memory is correct you just had to collect the needed pieces, put in a command and you had your handmade equipment. Not really sure if mini-games or lenghty scripts as Kvetch already mentioned will keep the player's attention, especially not if you have to go through the whole mud to pick up just that particular item you need for whatever it is you want to make. (A huge world can be a drawback at times.) And yes some people that play, prefer to be self-efficient without having to depend on other players to get this or that.

But my other question is the cooking-part. When I started playing here, all those years ago, all I wanted to collect was Ma Brown's recipe book and start cooking. Well that didn't work out well, seeing the thing wasn't implemented.  :o

Anyway food in 4d, in my opinion, doesn't really serve a purpose. Ok, it helps regenerating your ...points faster but as a mort I went to fill the largest drinkcontainer I could find at the milkfountain east of Recall, go to my recovery-hide-out or waited for a restore. Otherwise I just turned off the 'you are hungry/thirsty'-messages.

In other mud/games, food is used to restore health, which in 4d is done with potions.

So how will you convince players to actually go find Ma Brown's Recipe book and start cooking if all you need to do is go drink milk till you're full?

Weird, or it's my client who's clearing the screen with those commands.

With simpleMU it works and with MUSHclient it don't.  :-\

cls - does work, clears the screen

clear - also works, see cls

nomating - result can be seen with the finger-command; sets the partner as broken - but no idea what the affect is on the romancing code when someone is set as broken

fuel - used to refuel the spacebikes (fuel has been added as keyword to the helpfile of the spacebikes)

And the second part. (Seems you can only upload 4 files per post.)

One warning though: those files are not uptodate anymore.

For instance concerning building: the day/night description and the moonphases and such aren't added in any of the files.

Nor are any other changes that have been made after the moonphases.

** I can't seem to get into the 311 spellcasting file.  It keeps wanting to take me to the first helpfile that has spellcasting in it which is not the one I want to change.  Can someone else look into a way to fix this?

fixed

Don't think any typo-fixer has access to it. Ah but seeing what it does, it would be a perfect solution.

Edit: on second thoughts, seeing there's some things in there typofixers shouldn't have access too, ain't it possible to make something like tedit but that is only connected with the typofile?

Seems it would be best that those that are fixed are removed from the list. So Prom if you're up to doing this. :)

And maybe talk with Molzilla indeed to make a better system to remove fixed typoes, so it's easier to see which ones still need fixing.

This was the one that was on there originally: http://4dimensions.org/images/splash/deco_logo.gif

Maybe you can compare the height with that one and adjust it for the new logo?

Cause when adding it to the website, there's no parameters to allow me to change the height/width of the banner.

I never deleted them. If you do them in order, it's easy to know which one was the last one that you fixed. (Providing you don't leave any unfixed.)

When the file was full I asked it to be moved and replaced by an empty file. The way it is setup now, I think that's the best solution instead of wasting time to delete what has been fixed and what not with the risk of deleting the wrong ones.
