"Quest" in Player Title
« on: April 13, 2008, 04:45:34 am »
I've always been curious what "quest" in a player's title means.

When I type 'quest', I get a message "you are now part of the quest".  It doesn't give any information on the quest or how to join. Sometimes, I think that the imms give a quest to GM's which is great, but mostly I think that "quest" in the title means that someone is pk and doesn't want to participate in pk at the moment, so it's a secret message to other pk'ers not to attack them.

I still have in the back of my mind about going pk, and would love to know if putting 'quest' in your title gives you some control whether you want to participate in pk or are on a pk break and for other people to leave you alone.

Actually all Quest does is make you able to use the quest channel, which is a channel like any else.

The idea is that whenever an imm run Quest or RP event is going on, the players that take part should toggle the channel, to be able to communicate during the quest, without spamming everyone over gossip.

It's rarely used however, probably because imm run events are pretty rare. So I guess that's why it ran out of fashion and now is misinterpreted in various ways.

Shoot, I tried to do a "What should Kvetchy wear" quest over the quest channel a while back, but it seemed that most people didn't realize/didn't know what I was doing (and these were the people that had the quest channel on).  Of course, may've helped if I'd said something over gossip.  Hmmmm...  Though, I did get some nice outfits.  Too bad they're out of style now.  May have to run this again sometime.

The quest channel or qsay is broken. You see yourself say something on the channel, but no one sees that you said anything. It never transfers through...
Just thought I'd point that out.

So, let us know when it is fixed, Fiz.
We might want to use it in the planned RP event.
