The problem is, that the Bobas were a Hero run feature.
And since we have very few active heros left, and are not planning to make any new ones, we need to figure out another group of people to handle this.

This is definitely a feature that should be run by players, not imms.
Perhaps the Clan Leaders could work together on it?

Another problem is that we need a minimum player base for it to be worth the effort, since it does involve some builder work too. The last few years there just hasn't been enough players around, since almost every active player would have gotten a Boba, if we'd tried.

However, if we still have a decent player base come autumn, I'm not against resurrection, as long as nobidy expects ME to run it.

What all bobas do we have? If we have such a small Playerbase why not redo the ammount of boba awards we have?

I seem to remember that part of the reason Boba's were done away with was because the last ones we had there was some sort of bad name calling campaign going on to try to get a boba.  But, if you want here are the boba's we've had.  It looks as though we'd already combined some for the last go around - hence, the white heart.  I also believe the Best Sprout was only given out once.  If you were going to combine/get rid of any of these, which would you do?

The Bleeding Heart
The Bleeding Heart - a Boba award for the most kind, caring and helpful player
in 4 Dimensions.  It is represented by this pewter peice, a small statuette of a
man with his arms placed gently over his heart, surrounded by a semi-transparent
crystal in the shape of a red cracked heart.  On the base of the statuette is a
small etched plaque.

The White Flame
The White Flame - a Boba award for the most valiant, honorable and heroic player
in 4 Dimensions.  It is represented by this pewter peice, a small statuette of a
man with his arms out in front of his body, surrounded by semi-transparent white
crystal in the shape of a flame.  It emits light from an unknown source - said
to be the fire of kindness from the soul of it's holder.  On the base of the
statuette is a small etched plaque.

The Sage
The Sage - a Boba award for the most wise, knowledgable, and quest skilled
player in 4 Dimensions.  It is represented by this pewter peice, a small
statuette of a man with one hand on his chin, surrounded in a semi-transparent
crystal in the shape of an owl.  On the base of the statuette is a small etched
plaque.

 The Dark Horse
The Dark Horse - a Boba award for the most relentless, up and coming, and
imporoved player in 4 Dimensions.  It is represented by this peuter peice, a
small statuette of a man with his arms sternly at his sides, surrounded by a
semi-transparent crystal in the shape of a horse's head.  On the base of the
statuette is a small etched plaque.

 The Alabastor
The Alabastor - a Boba award for the most cheerful, humorous and good natured
player in 4 Dimensions.  It is represented by this pewter peice, a small
statuette of our good friend Alabastor, tragically lost on Sunday, November 20th
2005, surrounded by a semi-transparent crystal in the shape of a cheesy jester
hat.  On the base of the statuette is a small etched plaque, and underneath that
are the words, 'Kelly McGrath, aka Alabastor, you will be missed'.

The White Heart
The White Heart is a semi-translucent pearl within which is held a pewter
figurine of a man with his hands placed gently over his heart, represented by a
shining diamond in the shape of the perfect heart.  On the base of the statue is
a small etched plaque.

 The Best Sprout
The Best Sprout - a boba award given to the best new player (not an alt of an
older player).  It is represented here by a semi-translucent green crystal
in the shape of a small, leafy plant, within which is a figure of a man that
stands with his arms extended above his head as if trying to grow even taller.
On the base of the figure is a small etched plaque.

Are there really typos like that in the Bobas?  :P

On a more serious note - absolutely max 3.

We can combine the White Flame and the Dark Horse (and possibly even the Sage) for the currently best overall player. We can combine the Bleeding Heart and the White Heart with the Alabastor for the most newbie-friendly, kind, helpful, etc player. And I think we should use those, and the Best Sprout. That is my vote.

Whatever name you choose for the Bobas, I'd like the 3 categories to reflect:
1. Strongest and most honourable player (i.e The White Flame)
2. Most knowledgeable about the game, best Questor (i.e The Sage)
3. Most helpful, kind, entertaining, popular etc. player (i.e the Alabastor + the Bleeding Heart + the White Heart)

As much as I'd like to see a category for  new players, I think it's too hard to define the basis for it.
For instance.
- When does a player stop being a newbie and start being a seasoned player. A year is a long time in a Mud?
- Who can tell for sure if a newbie is really a newbie, or an alt of some oldbie, just using a different isp?
- A new player who advanced on their own is in my eyes worth more than one that received a lot of help and powerlevelling. But who can keep track?
- And finally - do we even get enough new players that stay on long enough to provide enough choices?

Perhaps there could be another way to encourage competition between new players?
For instance a regular global quests, based on already existing quests and/or scavenger hunts. restricted to Seekers that are not oldbie alts.
Some of the Clans run quests like this to encourage their members to explore and decide who is worthy to advance in the ranks.
The Seekers Clan could do something similar.
