Various Building help links
« on: October 18, 2013, 04:07:48 pm »
I was thinking today (while I was reading the Friday Gems from gamemaster (and blogger) Johnn Four that some of the stuff he posts could be used by builders building an area in a mud.  I mean, how different is building a mud area than building a gaming world?  So, here are a few links to get you started with more to come.

Coming up with unique names for rooms in a dungeon can be difficult and hackslashmaster (or whatever name that person is actually using) has come up with a simple (?) solution - multiple tables.  Check out the link here: http://hackslashmaster.blogspot.ca/2011/03/on-table-for-mega-dungeon-zone-names.html

Also, Chaotic Shiny has quite a few random generators on their page for almost anything you can think of.  Check them out at:  http://chaoticshiny.com/index.php

Hmm... maybe I should have used this next link when working on my villages for the Dragon Master zone.

Again, there does seem to be a lot more there than just this one generator.  Take a look at all of them.

Those are really cool! It gets the gears turning and helps motivate creativity. I may have to use some of those if I can ever get back to my zone.   :D
I get my energy from my Inner G.

Want to create an interesting magic item?  Create a background and sprinkle the information around your area.  Not sure where to start?  Try this link for ideas:

This could have been useful in the pirate rpl last month, but alas, I didn't see the link until now.  Learn to curse like an Elizabethan. by clicking on this link and following the instructions:

Here is another generator that may help come up with ideas for possible adventures in your zones.  Or at least it's another possible useful generator.

In case you can't find your graph paper when building an area (or mapping an area out), here is a link where you can create almost any type of graph paper you could buy.   Good substitute for running out to the store when you're in the middle of something just because you used your last sheet...

If we ever get potions in the game, this could be a useful guide for gathering herbs and their possible properties:
