Unfair advantage for new accounts verse old accounts.
« on: April 28, 2012, 06:31:26 pm »
MAIN POINT
Old character creation bonus need to be removed from accounts that have them or reintroduced so everyone is on the same playing grounds and not at a disadvantage.

Some time ago when  creating your account you had a choice to choose between 3 bonuses. A speed bonus, a damage bonus and the last I’m not sure about. Well these bonuses was removed from char creation i don't remember why nor do i remember when, but i believe this was when char creation was changed to make it easier on people creating a new account.

Well the problem is accounts created before this kept these bonuses and still have them today. These bonuses are actually quite significant being at 10% damage and 100speed.

These bonuses need to be brought back or removed from older accounts because its a big disadvantage for new accounts. And unlike races bonuses which can give big advantages or disadvantages u cant choose.

What about the roll stats that some of the oldest accounts still have, compared to the self chosen stats new accounts have?

Or we could allow people to pick one of these bonuses after they've achieved a certain amount of online play time or a certain number of remorts.

I should of made this a poll on wether or not asking if it should be added or just removed fromt he game all together. If possibly an Admin on here could change this into a Poll I would much appreciate it to keep me from spamming the forums with even more.

Question: Do you think old character creation bonus's should be reintroduced, or compleltly removed all together from game.

1. Reintroduce the bonus's
2. Remove the from the game all together.

You can add more if you can think of any.

Not reintroduced, they were horribly imbalanced hence why they were taken out in the first place.

10% bonus damage is worth 100x more than a bit of extra speed or the laughably pointless attack or evasion.

We need solid facts not just it sucks its imbalanced.

but dont get me wrong, I want your input on wether to keep them though. But I think it might be better if we can get how they stack up to each other also. Back then warrior and hunter had alot more speed, so maybe the speed bonus will actually be a good benifit for them over the 10% damage or even for casters. Idk. I asked once to look into it.

But its usually better to give and not take away on here.

Speed was good, but not as good as a blanket 10% damage boost. Attack and evasion are pointless.. The difference between 400-600 attack is pretty much non-existant, I remember when I used to get up to 810 attack and I'd still not be penetrating every time. It's like hitroll.

Even if you want to reintroduce them in some way, don't do it at character creation when newbies know nothing about the game or what is best for them. And good luck balancing damage or speed with attack and evasion. You'd need +500 attack to match +10% damage and even then I'm not sure it'd be equal.

You don't need each other to be equal in the terms of damage to each other. Each should have its separate usefulness.

10% damage is just damage
Speed will effect damage and damage reduction?
Attack/Evasion not sure about. Maybe this should be changed to regen.

And I agree if it is reintroduced it should be later in the game. Rerolling stats was talked about between Thotter, Graham, and I. They was thinking of allowing everyone to reroll at 10 remorts, maybe this should be introduced then if it is readded.

I feel as if it should be removed as soon as it can be, and if we want to add it later we have the option to do so.

Reroll?  But I never got to roll in the first place.

To me, giving everyone the same number of points to spend to create their character makes sense - you all start at the same place with the same points.  There is no "Oh, I'm going to create a program that says I don't want any stats unless they are all 18's" going on.  You put points in what you want to be good at, you take points away from what you think is unnessessary for your character.  Of course, since at 4D, if you want to become GM you go through all classes, until you find some good eq to make up for stats you took points out of, you're going to have a hard time with something.

I think that a good char stat system needs to be put in. Have newbies go with base stats that get them through their first remort, and hopefully by then they have figured out what is going to be needed for a given class.

The choice would have to be either:

a) stat roller
b) get base stats, and remove/add to whatever + 10 points (or whatever, purely an example)

I've always been a stat roller fan myself, but stat allocation isn't too bad either.
