Better race attributes

Post ideas for better race attributes!

eg:

Centaurs - don't need a mount.
Martians - infravision + breath in space.

Need to be unique things that are beneficial outside of battle.  IE not just +10% melee damage.

Dwarves - bigger inv / higher max carry weight
Spacewolves - faster move regen
Elves - faster mana regen
Fauns - better flute playing abilities + irresistible seduction

Gringos - lower tax on bank transactions / more tradepoints
Indians - faster move + mana regen (but less than spacewolves or elves)
Fauns - faster stamina regen

Martians should not lose so much move points or stamina in space. But for some reason they get the benefit of being able to breath under water instead. 

Indians should get a resistance to heat and an innate ability to scalp

Gringos- I liked the idea of having lower bank transaction fees. Perhaps give them the ability to pull more money from kills, like a small level pillage subskill.

Faun- increased speed, better chance of wood singing a badass stave,

Spacewolf - should great a butt ton of coolness points because well, it's a spacewolf!

Centaur should be faster than any other race, be able to carry more than any other race, but should have to wear a poop catching bag everywhere they go. I can't tell you how many times I have wished that when I go arti farming with my pet centaur.

How about

Centaur:
+500 max. carry weight. 
Permanently mounted.

Faun:
+50% stamina regen
Climbing never fails (because of their goat-like balance).
x2 chance of woodsinging an uber-staff

Dwarf:
+200 max. carry weight. 
+10 max. inventory slots.
Innate infravision

Elf:
+50% mana regen
Innate detect invisibility
Hide 100% success rate

Gringos:
No transactions tax
+10% tradepoints

Indian:
+25% mana regen
+25% move regen
Innate sense life
Mount never gets in their way

Martian:
Travels in outer space as if it's flat ground / normal air
Maybe treats all sectors like normal?  IE immune to the environment

Spacewolf:
+50% move regen
Innate track + scan
+50 speed for each spacewolf in the group

I am loving it! It makes sense role play-wise, and those are truly helpful skills. How do we get Imm approval on this and get a coder to start working on it?

So Martians don't use spaceships? I can understand ability to breathe in space though, because otherwise if that's RP I can only imagine an Indian shouldn't be able to traverse space due to wondering what this weird contraption is that is a spaceship! But the other ones are somewhat understandable. Would need perhaps a pool of potential things and go from there.

For certain each race should have potential "perks" . Perhaps there could be a pool of perks and you pick which ones you want for the type of that race you want to be? Like forest thief type elf or magic type. Could possibly make it so magic/melee strength etc is customizable?

Any recommendations on new stat allocations, such as melee, magic, attack, defense, etc? Those will be the easiest to implement and also seem quite unbalanced currently.

I would say the stat allocations (melee, magic attack defence) should be scrapped.  They are too unbalanced and I think race has always been a bad place for them.

Any thoughts on balancing these ones?  +500 carry weight on centaur looks OP compared to the rest of them.

Customisable perks would be really cool.

+250 max carry weight

+100 max carry weight
tinker never fails
embue armour never fails
innate infra

elf
+100% mana regen
innate detect invisibility

gringo
no transactions tax
+20% tradepoints

Indian
+50% mana regen
+50% move regen
innate sense life

space wolf
+100% move regen
+50 speed for every space wolf in the group
track never leads you wrong


Bonus upgrades/perks (choose one, can change for a cost in game):

Craftsperson:
better chance of woodsinging uber-staff
better chance of high dice tinkers

Killing machine:
+10% melee damage

Casting machine:
+10% magic damage

Buff machine:
x2 duration on spell/skill buffs you cast

Banking machine:
Earn interest on gold/tradepoints(/tokens?)

I like the newly revived idea alot.

I think for the bonus upgrade perks should be a little different and harder to earn. perhaps incorporate different factions/religons  you can join and you gain perks from doing quests and tedious tasks over time to upgrade your reputation gaining new perks along the way.

Clans, roleplay groups, not to mention HERO, Helpers, and Thief/Killer/Outcast.... Do we really want to add another aspect to this game? Clans could substitute religion, or subskills can be used to get the bonus perks. Adding religion would not only yet another faction to the game that might overwhelm newbies, but it is a lot of coding work to add something like that to the mud, I assume. Nobody is going to volunteer for that right now, not when so much else is going on. Best stick with easier ways of accomplishing your goals.

I dont like the idea of perks beying buyable, with out doing some kind of extensive work before hand.

And as far as flags count never mentioned it having a flag :). Can replace our crappy ethos system that newbies have no idea about anyways.

The most time spent on an idea like this is just the planning, I was basically just thinking of something along the lines of WoW Dailys for reputation gains in factions. But you can only be exhalted per say for one faction. Put a time limit on how often you can repeat the quest.

Yeah it would require work but I think alot of the scripting at least would be pretty universal for all factions with a few minor tweaks and changes to item ids and such.

And anyways something like this I think should be released in multiple parts. So bring on some new racial stats/changes first :).
