Just a quick thought with how to determine which clans own which deeds. Can flags be applied to mobs, like player characters, and be saved through crashes/reboots? If so say each clan is represented by a variable, 1-10, clan 1 gives flag to Collector, Collector is flagged with the object(deed) given by clan 1 and adds a +1 count to a counter for clan 1, if any other clan gives that same object to collector clan 1 loses a count with -1 and the other clan gets a +1 count along with the name of the clan  given to the collector... makes sense?

Perhaps the collector could have a bulletin board with it, only the collector can write on the board, and a scripted phrase is posted onto the board so the what clan owns what deeds is kept track of on the board, while the count is controlled strictly by the counter script. I might be way off with my thinking, but just an idea.

Great thread!

First thing is I love the King of Clans idea, almost exactly how I think the deeds should work as well!

My idea for the deeds was that they would load in a zones, randomly killing mobs within the zone had the small chance of loading the zone deed, the deed can only be loaded maybe once a day, or we could even say, use moon cycles, every new moon deeds can once more be loaded in a zone. Once a clan claims the deed, by placing it in a container in the clanhall, or maybe giving to one central mob near recall (might be easier that way) the mob would global command something like Table Round has claimed the Camelot Zone deed.

If say Chaos get's it next load it would prompt Chaos has claimed the Camelot Zone deed from Table Round.
Perhaps even broadcast a count of how many each clans own. Chaos 3; Sicilians 2; Table Round 1... if 0 it isn't even broadcasted to save spam?

I'm not sure if batches are better than a mass amount. Perhaps even do it as batches, once first batch of 10 is successfully all obtained by one clan, they win that "round" and then there's 10 more, and the first clan to achieve all 20 wins that "round" and receives an award, eventually with more and more deeds, it'll take longer and longer each round because there's simply more deeds, and with other clans continuously "stealing" them away from each other, it becomes nearly a continuous quest, maybe even make it so if the round is won the bonus prize is permanent for that clan. However if any other clan gets that many deeds they still get the buff at the respective level. Any thoughts? Would have to come up with some distinct bonus prizes. I think along the lines of interest to treasury, clan global innate, innate buff of some kind to attack, health, mana, moves, accuracy, evasion, speed, you name it.

Along with this, we could always implement what we planned to in the past and why we made clan entrances, is open clans to anyone? With the deed buff of interest rate it can make the treasury actually worth something. And with the ability to buy clan defenses, such as a mob for defense that attacks any intruder upon entrance, it's levels etc dependent on gold spent, perhaps traps that cause poison, or instant damage to anyone who enters, that are one time usage items, but all costing gold. This will provide a continuous gold sink to a clan especially if they keep getting attacked repetitively, and give people more incentive to play to keep their clan safe. Clans could be flagged arena, so anyone can defend as well.

This of course opens up clan wars, and may even be able to help mud growth in itself. Such as if a clan is 'dead' at what point do we throw in the towel with it and have another clan take it over, like Qualinesti belonged to Dark-Jedi for quite sometime. It doesn't stop the clan from ever coming back, if an interest is shown, but if this clan contest/raid/war features implemented can cut back the clans that are pretty much nonexistent. Perhaps even the option for clans to form alliances is brought back into play. This has many paths it can go, and can start off very fundamentally, and slowly grow, it doesn't need to be fancy by any means at first. simply opening clans and one defense purchasable, whenever time is available more defenses are added, etc. There's so many things to mention and not enough time right now to go through everything or make a detailed explanation, that can come in time if this idea is liked by most... Any thoughts, concerns, questions?

Yeah, I'm cool with the idea now, and like I said with there going to be another batch starting one day, it's not like it's not achievable anymore.

Aside from that..Viri had an idea before about Zone deeds. Essentially, if you are levelling in a zone, any mob within that zone has a small chance to drop a deed. you can then claim that deed for you clan. When claimed your clan gets some sort of benefit, like an interest rate, or something positive. Once a deed is claimed it would then be able to be gotten by another clan after so many hours has passed. What this does is gets clans competing against one another on a continuous basis, since it's an on going competition. Also promotes exploring and going out and getting far away zones deeds. Could make it percentage based or number based, after 10 deeds are claimed clan gets increased clan bank interest, if 20 deeds are reached then clan gets 10% more exp a kill, if 30 deeds reached 10% more gold...90 deeds 1 dambonus max deeds, get clan name added to plaque or trophy for it for in clanhall. And all deeds are reset. So it could be a competition to have all the deeds claimed before all other clans, but everytime another clan claims the zone you lose it, so it could very well take a very long time to win. I know the post is cluttered, but what do you think?

Fair enough, if its not really a big advantage, and won't cause imbalance works for me. Now that I think about it and this is the reward. With the next batch of 100 starting after this. Other clans know what they can work towards. So if anything it can be achievable by other clans still.

That's fair, I was thinking more along the lines of there being a large cooldown of sorts, each flag gives the player a flag, and then when they are within a specific room, could tie it to the trophy case or the 4d map room even. With the given flag the player can travel to zone of choice, even a global cooldown, so it's a 1 hour at a time kind of deal. I'm just thinking of something that doesnt put a permanent imbalance to the game, a new player has every chance to find all of the flags, sure an older player has more, but that's a given, same with equipment and knowledge. It won't change the fact it is still obtainable by anybody. Unlike the clan idea.
The clan idea makes DJ's pretty much worthless to join and Sics, Vikings, Chaos the only clans people would want because of the extreme imbalance. If we want that extreme imbalance and other clans have RP and such merit only to go on, then works. I won't be going anywhere if it's implemented, I just dont think it's fair especially with the pbase.
I just keep thinking, someone really wants to be a DJ, but no, I get no benefits so I'll join these other three. Might as well start closing clans..
I rambled a lot but I think I said what I needed to. ;)

I think the difference between restrings and perzes is, that you can't reload a restring per say, you have to re obtain the item you lost to restring. perzes once restrung, you can reload at any point you lose it without having to redo the quest again.

I was thinking about having another arena available to players much like the tournament yard. So it can be accessed by anybody at anytime and a good place for pk fights. Of course have different room types there, hot, cold, inside, outside, water, in water, air, etc. There can be different scripted goals built in if used as an arena, like capture the flag, or collecting items off of mobs that spawn in the zone, perhaps even survival, mobs start spawning and gradually get harder, your goal is to team up or be left for dead and fend for yourself. if you can survive the whole time, win something.
Several concepts for the arena, that could make it a fun place to spend time. Maybe have an overall goal for it, and it would open it up and make it give different casters etc advantages dependent on the terrain. Thoughts?

This is fair and appropriate as a clan reward I suppose. But if this is the reward I dont think there should be anything else given, as it already will significantly imbalance the clans if implemented. I'd say personally give the clan rewards in forms of say winning clan gets 3 gold tokens of credit to spend on their clan, not actual tokens the leader can use on themselves but credit to say build rooms for the clan, buy more crests, add scripts, you name it. likewise gold to 2nd place and 1 gold to third place. The remainder clans just the tokens per individual flag.

This transport to the zone I think would be more appropriate to the individual contest, and be obtainable by anyone. If the flag is on your certificate you can use your cert to transport you the designated room of that zone. Say you hold the certificate and say Old Yorke you go to Old Yorke, some zones can perhaps have longer timers than other before they can be re-used, but it would add a much faster way of people that have thoroughly explored the zones to get around. If you want more places, then find more flags, simple as that. Now incentive could be if you were the one to discover or find the flag, your timer is shorter than others or you don't have one.

1) Works, all casting classes at least should have it, and at least opens more classes of alts to have that can locate, if GM's don't have it.

2) Lets discuss? What does everyone think about more elementals? what tiers should they be? should tiers vary with your tier? maybe have elementals work like golems to a point? Your elemental is summoned via the spell, and can gain levels, more you have it out, gain exp from kills lose exp from deaths. Just an idea. Again all ideas welcome!

3) Simply up for discussion, do you want to see the powerful poison spells available?  If so what classes, or no classes, and on an item, or castable via scroll of sorts.

4) I'm in favor of a dispel magic, however if you cast it on yourself to remove a spell and chance of magic bubble, you could be stripping away all of your own buffs, more of a cast on self for adverse magic on you, and on another to remove any spell randomly perhaps?

Great idea, I've seen this done once on a mud via a machine. Simply involved a command of something like this for a random hat you have. Restring hat a blue hat  this would then deduct the cost automatically and restring the item to a blue hat. I'm this is doable here, and may even be accomplished through scripts. Any script expert out there know if this is capable. Thanks.

A few suggestions in the realm of spells, let me know who else agrees with any of the proposals.
1. Locate Object become T2 and or also available to the caster or caster-like Mage, Esper, Priest and Gypsy. This will give this novelty spell to them as well as GMs. Why have to rely on an alt when you are a GM or why not be able to locate objects when having the gift of magic on a larger scale compared to other classes?
2. Perhaps elementals for every spell discipline, on top of the already air, water, earth, and fire. So additionally Death, Dark, Electricity, Light, Mind, and Spirit. Light perhaps being good only, and Death evil only? Could also perhaps add other things such as elementals stronger/weaker dependent upon weather/room type/caster's charisma or proficiency in that spell discipline. Other ideas welcome.
3. All poison spells available to players, perhaps the stronger poison spells like poison 4 only castable once an hour/multiple hours/day. Good classes for this could be Esper/Thief/Gypsy/Ranger... some or all
4. Magic Bubble have some counter spell to dissolve it. Just as you can break a snare now. You can wake after being put to sleep or blackjacked. Why have a spell that completely disables casters, no way of popping the bubble?

Can look back at this also to help grow pbase, perhaps a new look at gladiators...

IDEA:
Everyone has an option of creating their own gladiator character, one per person. All the previous contest gladiators will be NPC's of a sort. Playable as Immortals, or perhaps others with a unique flag... Gladiator characters can battle each other to gain experience or something more prestigious, if it were a contest. Or fight rankings against the hero npc gladiators to gain money or something of that nature, to buy minor weapon/armor upgrades, mounts, pets, these things will simply more for show. It gives something to work towards.

Gladiators are already in game and primarily already coded. I'd imagine to do something of this nature would just take a few minor tweaks here and there. But it would open up a whole other aspect of the game and put everyone on more of an equal footing and it would be based entirely on skill. It would certainly in time help to see what classes are in fact the most imbalanced.

Is this idea too farfetched or something do-able without a lot of work?
Thoughts?
